Okay, okay I know there are a lot of pictures on this blog and not a whole lot of content, but posting pictures is so much more fun. Anyways, Teresa and I were out on Toronto Island for a ride today and had a great time in the beautiful weather. Teresa isn't usually that fond of riding her bike, but if there are no cars and she doesn't feel unsafe that good times can be had. Toronto Island was perfect as there were no cars and lots of free space to roam. Currently Teresa is riding an awesome bike that probably weight about 40 lbs. I can see if I want to continue riding with my wife there will be a new bike purchase in the near future and it won't be the road bike I have always been dreaming of. Cheers

Wow, it's been a while. With taunting from my dear friend Marcos Lopez I have finally put together a collection of pictures from a fantastic hike in August back in Calgary. I don't have a lot to say about the whole day except that things never really change. I still love being up in the mountains on a clear day, I have some of the best friends in the world, I am so lucky to have met such a great group of people in my first year of university and one day I hope to return to the province of Alberta

Hello All,

Marcos showed me how to view the stats for this Blog and holy man are a lot of people checking it out! I am really happy that you are all enjoying my latest pictorial posts and I am not promising, but will try to add some editorial notes as well. Furthermore, for my good friends who are also experimenting with their cameras I will leave more detailed information about the pictures so you can give it a try yourself and/or learn something. I would love to hear what you think of the pictures so leave me any comments of things you like or don't like, not that I really am going to change much if you don't like something, but hey give it a try.

Today was my last shift at Sick Kids hospital emergency department, my last day as a junior resident and my wife's last day as a resident. She is now a real doctor and my sugar mama! I am so proud of her and what she has accomplished over the past... 11 years of post secondary education. Can you believe that Teresa and I got together in first year of University and made it through medical school and residency together? Well, of course I can, but that is quite an accomplishment I must say.

Sick Kids hospital is an amazing place. From the mom who brings her child from five hours away to have her child's sprained ankle to be looked at by a "Sick Kids" doctor to the seizing dimorphic hypoplastic left heart one month I saw it all there. As far as my medical training is concerned I had to take a huge step backwards to fit into that place with respect to how I operate as a resident and where I fit into the medical team. Pediatricians are very protective, thorough and truly are pediatricians first and emergency physicians second. For those of you not in the medical community that probably means nothing. What it mean is I learned a good lesson on really understanding the environment you are working in and who you are working with and how important it is to make sure you appreciate where you fit into that structure.

I saw some amazing cases at Sick Kids, from sad and tragic to frustrating and infuriating to comforting and rejuvenating. Kids are wonderful and I am so much better a doctor for spending time dealing with them and their families.

So, I did it. Yup, bought my self a sweet new camera. I will have to say it was the culmination of a number of circumstances that caused me to purchase it, but that is a whole other story. Today I was out for a walk in the cemetery and parks near my house and took some pictures for you all to check out.

I was out for a ride tonight, totally loving getting out to hills lots this year. Also, was at the bike store yesterday checking out the bikes you mentioned. I would have to say that the Rocky EXTS or whatever that is not my first choice. Let me premise this comment by saying that I didn't take it for a ride or anything, just by looking at it. First, elevated chain stays? what's with the retro throw back design? Do you think that gives you any advantage? Personally when I look at the rear of that bike I think it looks weak. For a guy of your size that probably doesn't matter at all, but when you have 190 lbs to chuck around and are known for breaking things, I am looking for longevity. First Sick Kids Shift

Well, I am off to my first shift at Toronto's Sick Kids Hospital for some fun with sick little kiddies. To be honest it has been a long while since I have seen or dealt with a sick kid so I am sure it will be a little exciting. Unfortunately, or maybe fortunately for my training Sick Kids is the trauma referral center for all of Ontario and then some, which means it gets all the gruesome trauma from everywhere.

Well, this is a good start. Some pictures, a few quick comments. I have never been one to "Journal", but always thought that keeping a log of events would be fun. Today Teresa finished day two of her exam and man am I happy that is over with. We are off to a vacation in the city at the Royal York hotel which should be fun. I will post more pictures soon.
